MN700 hub to switch change

My sister and I share a cable modem via a 10baseT hub. I
then have an MN700 router and my own small wireless
network including wireless print server and network hard
drive. All works perfectly. I tried switching out the
hub for an auto-sensing 10/100 switch, but try as I
might, I could not connect to the internet from my
computer, though my sisters did fine. I tried resetting
the MN700, shutting down the computer and disconnecting
the power on the MN700 all to no avail. Any ideas, or is
this setup not usable?? Thanks

Is the switch handing two different IP's (maybe through NAT
and DHCP)? Put a second PC on the switch and see if it
works for both computers, and how it needs to be configured.

Then transfer the TCP/IP settings from the computer to the
WAN screen of the 700.

My sisters computer is connected to the switch and works
fine, my router is connected to the switch and does not get
an IP address, which it does receive when the hub is
connected. I've shut my computer and the MN700 off,
connected the switch to the modem, turned it on, then fired
up my router and computer, and still dont get an IP assigned.

How is the internet coming in then? Is it going from the modem to the
hub or switch first or is going from the modem to her computer first?

If the answer is the first then have you purchased multiple IP addresses
from your ISP? (If you haven't then this is most likely your problem.)

Run Command Prompt on your sister computer, and then enter
ipconfig

What is the IP? Is it a 192.168.x.x type?

If it is not, then you need to reconfigure the switch (if
it can be reconfigured) and enable DHCP on it.

My sister and I each have separate IP's 24.xxx.x.xxx, our
ISP allows up to 5 separate. My internal network has
192.xxx and works terrific. But, when I replace the
10BaseT hub with a Linksys EZXS88W Switch, my sister gets
her same 24.xxx IP back, but the MN700 gets no IP at all.

Added Info: I tried connecting the MN700 directly to the
Cable Modem, reset router and modem, no IP. Static entry
of IP, subnet, Gateway, still no IP. Plug in the hub, and
everything works perfectly. IP assigned automatically by
ISP, everything is on automatic. What am I missing??

Put back the switch, and plug the 700 to it.

You need *only* to configure the 700 WAN screen. So
concentrate on it only. Select the proper connection type
(dynamic, static... -- whatever your ISP said), and enter
the remaining ISP data (if any). This should be identical
to the settings on your sister's computer TCP/IP properties
(except for different IP)

Once it's working the 700 will show a WAN IP of 24.x.x.x, a
LAN IP of 192.168.2.1, and hand over to your LAN IP's of
192.168.2.x

The ISP has locked onto the MAC address they first saw. Have you tried
cloning the MAC address of your computer into the MN-700?
