MN500 - Terrible Product

I have had the worst experience with this unit! The first
one I had worked for about two weeks perfectly, then all
of sudden the power LED turned orange and the thing never
again worked properly. After about 1 hour on hold with
Microsoft "Support" I was told to send it back. Now I have
a new unit but when the DHCP lease time is up, I have to
reset the thing because it stops assigning addresses.
There is a KB artible dating back to 4/03 for this problem
(kbBroadBand KB331949)and still this is not fixed. I will
never buy a Microsoft product again!!!!

Did you update the firmware? What lease time do you have set? I've been
running mine for many months without an issue in this area.

I can echo Chris' remarks. I'm sorry you are having these problems, but
they aren't typical--not only has mine worked for many months without issue,
but it has better range than I expected--good connectivity to parts of the
house that were marginal with other devices I tried previously.

I'd recommend the firmware upgrade, for sure, but don't know whether it
addresses the issue you are having with DHCP.

Thanks for the reply. I have already upgraded the
firmware with the application provided on the support
site. This didn't seem to fix the problem.

I was using a 24 hour lease time. I have changed it back
to 2 weeks to see if it makes a difference.

Steve

PS. since I posted this message I received about 30 emails
with the swen virus. I guess I should have read the
message about not using your email address....
