Hi, I have a mn500 router and am trying to network my desktop: a sony vaio
rb34 and a sony vaio fs680 notebook. I can share my broadband connection but
Ican't share a printer or any files on either computer. I have ran the
network setup wizard on both computers and checked the file and print sharing
box. on the desktop I can't see any workgroups and on the notebook I see both
computers in the workgroup when I click on "view workgroup computers" My
desktop is running XPmedia center 2005 and my laptop,XP home. I've updated
the firmware for the router also. Still I can't share files or the printer
that is connected to my desktop. I really need some help!!

Thanks
Tom

What error messages are you getting?

Do you have accounts on both computers with the same user name &
password? (Remember passwords are case sensitive while user names are
not on Windows.)

Can the two computers ping the IP address of the other computer?

If you answer these questions we will have a better idea of how to help you.

Please do not contact me directly or ask me to contact you directly for
assistance.

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.

If it’s not worth posting you should have done a search on
http://www.google.com/ http://www.google.com/grphp?hl=en&tab=wg&q= or
http://news.google.com/froogle?hl=en&tab=nf&ned=us&q= before wasting our
time.

If I sound hostile or arrogant you need to read the following before
posting a question "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html (The site I've linked
to just has this article I think people should read before posting a
technical question.)
