This post might come in useful to someone so here it
goes...
I have a gateway 200 series centrino notebook and a MN500
base station. I installed the software on my wired
desktop according to instructions then added the laptop
to the network. I can't remember 100% but i think i ran
the install disk on the notebook too because the base
station management tool was in my notebooks start menu.
Most of the time my wireless connection was pretty
decent, but in some parts of the house that should not
have posed a challenge for transmission I would get a
connection that would cut in and out. Sometimes a reboot
would solve this at least temporarily.
I ended up doing a clean OS (XP Pro) reinstall on the
notebook and this time i didn't bother with the MN500
software...I used the intel PROset pgm supplied with the
hardware to see my network and connect, took no time at
all and have not had one signal dropout anywhere in the
house since...it's full signal all the time....beauty!
