Have Dell 8250 hardwire to MN500 and used to have Compaq
2700 laptop MS XP home with MN520. This worked great. Got
new Dell 9100 laptop MS XP Pro SP1 build 2600. Went
through MBU install. I get connected for 3 to 5 minutes
then get kicked off. Have tried everything to resolve and
have had MS email support (5 or 6 emails)Can anyone assist?

Thanks

disable 802.1x authentication as the MN-500 doesn't support that.

Hi Joker

Yes I tried that as one of the first fixes and now I
can't even get that tab to appear. I just get general and
advanced.

Thanks for the reply though.

Then you don't have either SP1 or SP2 installed.

Also it might be that one or more of the wireless services is disabled.
The services in question are the following "SSDP Discovery Service",
"Universal Plug and Play Device Host", & "Wireless Zero Configuration".

All three should be started & have the startup type of automatic. If
you are missing one of these three services you should post about that
on a Windows XP newsgroup or call for technical support.

The last possibility in this case is that the network card drivers have
been damaged. If that is the case you will want to uninstall the
drivers & reinstall them.

I do strongly recommend installing Windows XP SP2 as it increases the
security of Windows XP.

Hi Joker

I have Windows XP w/ SP1 I just got this Dell 9100 about 3
weeks ago. Also I went through all the services and they
are running. I even tried one suggestion of changing the
settings for " Wireless Zero Configuration". But here's
the problem. After about a dozen emails back and forth to
MS support I was told that my cardbus adapter a Texas
Instruments 4510 is not compatible with the MN520. I was
told to return it.

Actually I think they just gave up.

Thanks for your help
