I am running a Dimension 4600 w/XP Pro 500 mg RAM. I
initially had the MN 500 recognized on a 2000 Pro machine
but no wirless LAN...Also under WAN connectivity it
listed as 'connecting'. I switched the base station to a
new XP Pro machine and had the same problems. Replaced
the base station with a new MN-500. Uninstalled
software...reinstalled software but now cannot get the
base station to be recognized...I cannot connect via
192.1678.2.1 or through the broadband util. It will not
recognize the unit. I have gone over all of the wired
connections multiple times. The wireless IC, attached to
a XP Pro Latitude comes up perfectly at work...but
obviously cannot see the base station at home. Any
assistance would be great.

this be listed as the MN500 192.168.2.1?

Yes, it sounds as if you have WAN settings entered in the LAN area. You can
reset the MN-500 to factory specs (the default 192.168.2.1 address, etc.) by
holding a pin in the Reset slot on the back for over five seconds. Then
just go to the default address in your browser and enter the information in
the proper sections.

The WAN information is that which your Internet Service Provider gives you
for IP address, Gateway, DNS numbers, etc., while the LAN is the settings on
"this" side and only addresses your computers.

I have reset the modem multiple times but to no avail...I
cannot Access the BStaTION VIA THE INTERNAL 192.168.2.1
ADDRESS.my WAN settings continuously say "connecting" I
was wondering if it could be an issue with my, over three
year old, 3COM Home Connect Modem and an internal NAT
setting there. I have tried to log in and see if there is
a setting to turn off NAT here...but there is none...

Perhaps there is new firmware for the modem, John? Have you checked that?
I know with the Fujitsu SpeedPort modem furnished by my DSL provider Verizon
(I have a different ISP) unless I check with them every few months they
don't notify anyone. So far I've caught three firmware updates that weren't
announced. Verizon does all the updating from their end, when I catch it.
