This is because your wireless access point is acting as a "router," which
allows internet but not local networking. There's an option in the wireless
access point configuration to "change networking from router to bridge."
This has some other consequences as well, so read the notices before doing
this.
Another option is to turn off the wireless point's DHCP server, then plug
your Sweex router into a different port of the wireless point's array,
effectively putting everything on the local side of the wireless point.
