I have had my mn700 setup with wpa and have not had any
problems until recently. The laptop using the mn720 was
able to access my network and the internet without a
problem. The other day i rebooted the laptop and i could
not connect to the base station. When i checked the
available networks utility, it said my network is being
broadcast with disabled / unknown security settings but i
have not changed anything on the router side. I then tried
changing the wpa password and have since tried the card in
two different laptops but cannot get the base station to
broadcast as WPA / TKSIP .
Please help.

Since you are using WPA I'll assume that you are using Windows XP. Have
you uninstalled the broadband networking software? IF not please do so
as it will help.

I am running win xp pro on 2 laptops and 1 desktop. I
tried uninstalling Microsoft Broadband Networking on one
of the laptops but nothing changed. It seems to me that
the issue is with the router b/c it is being detected as
using wpa on either laptop. please help.

Do you have the 826942 patch installed on the wireless computer(s) or
the 815485 patch? There was some issues with the 815485 patch that the
826942 patch resolved.

Did you:
1. change the default SSID during initial setup? If not, connect with
a wired connection and do so now. if that does not work:
2. try a reset to factory defaults - then reconfigure using a web
browser pointing to 192.168.2.1 (default password is admin).
3. uninstall the microsoft broadband networking utility software

1. yes i changed the ssid which was working fine for a
while

2. is there any way to fix this without resetting the
base station ? it seems to be a reocurring problem.

3. I tried this on one of the laptops but it didnt make a
difference.

at this point, a reset is all I can recommend. hopefully things will improve
with a firmware update.

Try a softy reset on the router by unplugging the power to the MN-700
for about 10 seconds & plugging it back in.
