MN-820 connection drops

Just wanted to add that my connection also slows to a
crawl then all of a sudden drops. This happens about once
or twice a day and usually takes about 2-3 minutes to
come back. Sometimes the unit needs to be reset. Tried
different channels but no luck. The weird part is the
signal strength is always great just the speed declines.
Kind of a bummer because otherwise a great product. I
have Panasonic cordless phones in the house but not near
the units maybe they have something to do with it. Seems
to be a popular complaint though. Maybe the next firmware
will resolve this issue for me.

It could easily be the phones. A firmware update won't solve this one.
Consider a 900MHz phone or a 5GHz phone instead of 2.4GHz.

Just for the record, I run wired telephones, a wireless 900 MHz and two
wireless 5.8 GHz phones through and next to my MN-700 and MN-500 series
wireless setup serving nine different computers (seven wireless) and a
wireless Xbox without drops or lost signals.

I have been corresponding with Barb Bowman the last
couple of days on my MN 700 slowing down and dropping the
Internet.
Today I was advised by Microsoft Tech support that there
is no remedy to this problem. They feel that there is a
build up of electrical interference that causes the Base
Station to constantly "recall packets" and re send
packets of information thus slowing down and eventually
it is unable to keep up and drops the internet connection.
I was further advised to purchase a different product as
there will be no fix to my problem.

Thanks for you help Barb.

Thanks for that, but why would you have problems with MN Wireless gear that
operates at 2.4GHZ when your phones are 900 MHZ and 5.8 GHZ?

I don't, Rod, which is exactly my point. I was just stating that running
both series of Microsoft products with the 5.8 GHz and 900 MHz wireless
telephones, none have exhibited any adverse behavior - unlike folks who are
trying to run the 2.4 wireless telephones in the same vicinity as those
products.

I just checked my phones both phones are 900 mhz I just
assumed they were 2.4. Maybe I am experiencing the same
issue as Barry. Although today and last night things have
worked great.

I made it through yesterday with only 2 times being
disconnected.
Today, Jan. 28, 6 times I have had to unplug the base
station and wait for it to pick up the internet.
I am having my ISP install thier Wireless product this
Friday and finally shut off the MN 700.
Going to a new product was the advice of Microsoft to me
yesterday as they did not feel I had a defective unit.
Judging by the volume of problems with this unit in this
newsgroup it seems the MN 700 is a unit to stay away from
for the forseeable future.
