MN-740 Firmware update issues

Hello,

I searched the forum for other posts on this and found
none. I am having a problem updating the firmware on my MN-
740. The boot firmware updated without issue but the
runtime firmware always fails. I have a linksys WTR54G
wifi router. The update package that I downloaded from MS
finds the 740 without a problem but fails to update the
runtime firmware. I have tried multiple times and even
tried connecting the 740 directly to the router. Oddly
enough, it the 740 still works ( I can can connect to LIVE
w/o issue) but I don't like failed upgrades.

IF this has been covered in a post that I mised, please
direct me there, or a website that addresses the issue.

I have the exact same setup as you except I have 2 MN-
740's.
I had a tried everything too without any luck so here is
what I did and I hope it helps. Take them to a different
computer if possible and plug them directly intro the
ethernet port of that system. Mine worked right after I
did this. My XP machine wouldn't update them but my 2000
at work did without a problem. After updating them I read
taht the updating process was not compatible with ATI
video drivers (there is a conflict somewhere). Seeing that
I have a RADEON 9800 in my system at home I think that's
what the problem was. If you need anymore help I will help

If you are trying to update the MN-740 with any other update package it may
not work. That's what happened to me when updating my router and my laptop
adapter. Try going here:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/br..._mn740_102.htm
and follow those instructions, hope that helps!

Hi Alpha,

Why would I be trying to update the MN-740 with another
products update package? Unfortunately, the mn740 readme
you refer to is the one that I used without success.
My wifi adapter works fine but I wanted this update so
that I didn't have to broadcast my SSID to the world.
