MN-710 locks up my Win 98SE computer

I just set up the mn-710 on my Compaq 450mHz win98se
machine and was able to intermittently hook up with my D-
link router, but it seems that the 710 keeps continually
updating the connection until my computer freezes up. I
had some problems installing the 710 because the
installer required a Win98 CD-Rom which my computer did
not come with. There was one file that was not on my
computer (.sam extension). The wireless light flickers
when the network works, but stays solid lighted when the
machine is frozen. The machine unfreezes when I unplug
the USB connected 710. Note the signal varies from good
to low to not even there without my changing anything.
What should I do next? Thank you.

Get your Windows 98 CD or setup files.

Uninstall the MN-710.

Reinstall the MN-710 with the files needed available.
