I just purchased the MN-710. On the package it says
that it has "Flexible support for 802.1x, WPA, and 128-
bit WEP.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to allow 802.1x as
stated.

I'm using the AEGIS Client from Meetinghouse. I attempt
to Disable the use WEP option, but the Broadband Network
Utility keeps re-enabling it. The AEGIS is
authenticating fine, but the Broadband Network Utility
drops the connection saying "Incorrect Security Key".

Is there a way to permenantly disable the WEP option and
get 802.1x working as stated on the package?

i think microsoft lied to us about supporting WPA (I also
purchased the MN-710 yesterday) by stating that it
supports WPA and WEP. Like you, I can get WEP to work
with the MN-710, but i cannot use WAP.

I cannot even get to view Available Wireless Networks
either by right clicking on the wireless network
connection icon for my SSID or doubling clicking on it
and going thru the wireless network connection properties
box that normally shows 3 tabs General, Advances and
Wirelss on the 802.11g card that came with my Dell D80
laptop.

Microsoft should make the update available or wuit
selling the units and fooling people into buying an
incomplete product or quit the false advertising if they
know the WPA option is not yet available on the cards.

are you trying to use WPA-PSK or are you trying to use WPA with a radius
authentication server/EAP ???

trying to use WPA-PSK. but i've been thru your posts
on "WPA Wireless Security for Home Networks" and i cannot
get the window for typing in the shared pass-phrase WPA-
PSK key.

By window, i mean the Available Wireless Networks window
either by right clicking on the wireless network
connection icon for my SSID or doubling clicking on it
and going thru the wireless network connection properties
box that normally shows 3 tabs General, Advanced and
Wirelss. I know I'm supposed to cos i get the windown
using the dell installed 802.11g card on my laptop with
the same linksys router.

It's just greyed out, except the cancel option, so i
figure, it has to do with the microsoft MN-710 802.11g
card

is the Dell using it's own utility or wireless zero configuration? you
need to use wireless zero configuration and not the setup wizard that
came with the 810. Also, have you applied SP1 to your machine?

The Dell uses the wireless zero config. And yes, I have
XP SP1, have the 815485 path, not ready to install XP SP2
beta yet until it's stable. Don't know what else to try,
but it sure is wierd.

I just set up the MN-710 on a desktop here, and am having
the same problems. The wireless networking dialog that
comes up when you click on "View Available Networks"
simply does not have anything enabled to click on except
the "Cancel" button.

Also, if you go through the Microsoft Broadband Utility
(CD that came with USB adapter), it says WPA is not
supported by this version of the utility. This is really
annoying as the box clearly states that WPA is supported.
