mn 700 router

Do I need to have the broadband software installed to
access the router admin? I have a D-Link and I just type
in the address and it brings up the admin interface on the
router.

I also noticed that it always ties to connect to the net
automatically. I'm just using it as a hub and wireless
access point on my pc to share my dial-up net access with
my other pc's.

I'm running xp sp2.

No, you do not have to have the broadband software
installed. To access the MS base station go to :
http://192.168.2.1/login.htm

Using it as a hub and access point requires you to
configure is as such.
The MN700 can act as a hub/wireless access point using an
ethernet cable from your router to the modem port on the
base station.
The base station has to be setup with the ethernet cable
in port 1 on the base station connected to your PC. see

"Reconfigure the MN-500 as a Wireless Bridge" in this
article. same steps apply for your MN700

The last step is to reconnect the ethernet cable from the
router to the modem port on the MN700.
