Hi

I have a mn-700 base station and a Commtrend CT-301 DSL
modem. When I connect my DSL modem to the modem port on
the base station the mn-700 networking software cannot
find the broadband connection.

The funny thing is when I remove the Ethernet cable from
the modem port on the base station and plug it into 1 of
the 4 base station switch ports it finds the broadband
connection.

At first I thought it might be a Ethernet cable problem
so I proceeded to try both a crossover cable and a
straight through cable but neither worked. Could it be a
defective modem port on the base station?

What is the difference of having the modem (broadband
connection) connected to the switch ports rather than the
intended modem port on the mn-700 base station? Any help
will be greatly appreciated. As another note I have
updated the firmware and software but still no go. Also
what is the correct type of cable to use between the dsl
modem and the mn-700 base station?

Thanks

Ron

Is your modem a base station/modem? If so, you need to set up the MN-700 in
access mode.

I am not quite sure what you mean by base station/modem.
Its a external modem that connects with a ethernet cable
to my pc and its base station is the standard one from
microsoft. What do you mean by access mode and how do you
set it up in this mode???

Thanks
