Hello:

I am able to connect to the web with my MN-740, but the MN-
700 Base Station Management SW doesn't show the MN-740. A
couple of questions to the group.

1) How do I set up the Base Station to recognize MN-740?
2) How do I instruct my wife and Kids to connect to web,
the Base Staion Software has changed our prevously used
connection option and they as well as I am confused.
3) Why is the Base Station Management Software unavailable
when I am connected to web?

Thank You!

--> Have you checked your settings on the Xbox to make sure the MN-740 is
part of the same Workgroup and on the same Channel as your LAN?

--> What changed, Jeff? If you're on DSL (Broadband), the connection
should be "always on" and there's no "connect" to accessing the Internet.

> 3) Why is the Base Station Management Software unavailable
> when I am connected to web?

--> Where is this not available? If you're in your browser, can you type
192.168.2.1 (the default IP for the base station) and access the BSMT?

****Yes.. and it is... I can update channell on Xbox (like
I said I'm connected and have downloaded content, its just
that the Basr Staion Management SW and Diagram does not
show MN-740 and it is not a default Adapter option on the
set up wizard)***

****We shut down PC at night which terminates connection,
when we Logon on web through SBC it goes through a Mini-
port PPOE WAN logon but never connects.....I have to reset
Modem, Router than a refresh with Base Station SW to get
connected.****

**** I figured that one out, but it should be accessible
through the Base STation UI and it is not....why is this?

Thank you for your reply

**** OK.....But my ISP kicks me off after certain amount
of time and what about power failure and other shutdowns?

****The BSMT should be accessible through the Base Station
UI, but it is greyed out an not <clickable>. I did open it
up in the browser, but need to know why unavailble via UI.

Lets try this, Jeff.

First on the SBC connection problem, please go into Internet Explorer (I'm
guessing you use that as your browser) and into Tools/Internet
Options/Connections tab. Make sure there is nothing listed in the box at
the top (Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings).

Second, click on the LAN settings button in the bottom-right of the
Connections page. This will give you a new screen. If you see any check
marks in any of the boxes, remove them entirely. Then click the OK button
to exist that screen, then OK again to close the Internet Options pages.
Close your browser.

On the Xbox adapter, since the original setup, have you powered it off for
about a minute, and then powered it back on? If not, try that. If it still
doesn't show in the base station devices listing, then something is
incorrect in the setup of the adapter itself.

You can reset the Xbox adapter by using the reset hole on the back of the
MN-740 to restore it to original settings, and then reconfigure the adapter
itself. See Page 4 in the User's Guide. Then specifically follow the setup
instructions, especially making sure the Xbox setup screen is listing
Infrastructure for the type of network.
