When I bought my MN-700, it had firmware 2.0.7.331 boot
and runtime.

I didn't install the utility, I like doing stuff manually
like I did with my previous MN-500.

I checked the website for firmware updtes, and it said
under the manual download that none were available.

I saw some people had firmware 2.0.8.333 so I installed
the utility and it said there were updates.

Now I have 2.0.8.333

Why wasn't this firmware available for manual download
and install?

Corey, the download is available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/br...Downloads.aspx but
located in an improper location under "Auto Install." There is a Readme
file and also the MSBNDownload.exe for you.

Well, one good reason is that there is no manual install option for the
router itself....
