My desktop PC runs Windows ME, and my laptop runs Windows XP. I enabled
sharing on both computers. They run the same workgroup name. I made a couple
files to share on both computers. I can access the shared files from my
Laptop (XP) using my desktop (ME) by double clicking the icon under network
devices.

I tried accessing my desktop shared files using my Laptop but when i double
click the icon under network devices it says " the Device you selected does
not provide any information. Select another device." Any ideas why i can
access one way but not the other?? Thanks.

Mark

If you are trying to access the ME computer using the Microsoft BNU
(Broadband Networking Utility) that is most likely the problem. You
should be using network neighborhood.

Please do not contact me directly or ask me to contact you directly for
assistance.

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.

If it’s not worth posting you should have done a search on
http://www.google.com/ http://www.google.com/grphp?hl=en&tab=wg&q= or
http://news.google.com/froogle?hl=en&tab=nf&ned=us&q= before wasting our
time.

If I sound hostile or arrogant you need to read the following before
posting a question "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html (The site I've linked
to just has this article I think people should read before posting a
technical question.)
