MN-700 Dropping Periodically

Weird problem. It appears that sporadically, and totally
randomly, my MN-700 drops the connection to my cable
modem. Wait a few seconds, everything comes back - even
appears that things connected to the wired hub even drop
off. My wireless systems never report a "disconnect" from
the WAP, just no network packet throughput (not finding
sites, no PINGing, etc). Totally unpredictable and I am
quite certain the cable modem is not the problem. Did not
have this problem with my MN-500.

Any ideas ? I guess it doesn't really matter since they
whole line has been discontinued and another firmware
upgrade will never happen anyway. Cynical ? Yes.

No such problem here.
As a matter of fact best Wifi-G wireless router I have tried.

With others, I had the problem you mention, and others, all the time.
Numerous wireless devices were available. I am the only
one now.

Wireless-G is rather long range. 1500 feet i think, as
against 300 feet for Wireless-B.

Have you tried to run your MN700 in
« B and G » mode. I suspect it then runs just as
fast but has lower range. That is what I use with
WAP-TSK crypting.

I have a similar problem, though with my 720 notebook
card in a Toshiba Satellite. My cable connection seems to
be flawless AFAIK.

The notebook wireless connection is great when it works.
Unfortunately at random times (many times within an hour)
the wireless network icon in the task tray pops up a
balloon saying one or more wireless network connections
are available and that I can connect to one.

My two neighbors have WiFi routers, too, and they seem to
interfere with my MN720's abilities to stay connected.

Changing channels and other settings seems to have
absolutely no effect whatsoever.

This is *really* annoying.

Yes, all the drivers and firmware are as up to date as
Microsoft would have them.

Are you using WPA or WEP? If the former, make sure you're not using 802.1x
authentication on the notebook. Also, you might check in Network
Connections to make sure nothing is bridged in there. How much lease time
is set on the base station? You may try bumping that up to two weeks, if
you haven't already.
