Are you sure you are accessing someone elses network, such
as a corporate system??? MSFT base stations do NOT assign
Public IP by default...
"Your computer might have a public IP address for one of
the following reasons:
You are not using a base station, router, or gateway
device on your network, so your computer receives its IP
address directly from your Internet service provider
(ISP).
Your Microsoft base station or router has been set to use
a customized IP address range that includes public IP
addresses.
Your computer is connected to a network, such as a
corporate local area network, that is not using one of the
IP address ranges set aside for private local area
networks.
Because the Broadband Network Utility cannot verify that
your computer is on a private local area network, it
cannot check the network for active devices. Therefore,
you will not see any devices listed in the Network Devices
area of the Broadband Network Utility."
