1) Not really. The network settings on your router should have been
retained by the router (it has nothing to do with your OS) and the settings
on your OS should have been retained through the SP2 installation process.
2) You could fix this, but why bother. There is nothing that can't do by
not using the BNU. Everything can be set it through the base stations
management tool (
http://192.168.2.1 by default, or whatever the lan ip of
your router is if you changed it) or through the Windows Wireless setup
control panel. With Windows XP, you need not install the MS BNU at all.
