I have a new Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 5850 printer, which
is Wi-Fi capable. My problem is that, in two months, I
have never been able to connect to the printer wirelessly
via the MN-700. Connecting via ethernet cable works fine.
I also have no problem connecting my laptop to the network
and Internet via the MN-720.
I have disabled all firewalls and virus programs during
the printer's installation. I have re-entered the WEP keys
countless times to ensure that they match, along with the
other settings. I have called HP support, and exhausted
all their remedies - they haven't been able to figure it
out. I even returned the printer to the store for a new
unit, and still I can't make this printer work wirelessly -
an option that I paid extra for.
I know the printer's wireless capabilities work, as it
connected accidentally to my neighbor's WAP. I am using
infrastructure communication (no ad hoc, please), shared
key authentication and 128-bit encryption. Printer and
router are on the same subnet mask, and the DHCP server is
enabled.
Any ideas?
