I'm trying to network 2 xp desktops with an MN-700. Both
desktops are to be connected to the internet.

The first desktop detected the MN-700 and installed
without a hitch.

The 2nd desktop could not detect the MN-700 - it detected
a firewall. I disabled Norton Personal Firewall. Still
couldn't detect the MN-700 - still detected the firewall.
I uninstalled Norton Personal Firewall. Still couldn't
detect the MN-700.

I've checked all MS support pages, googled the issue and
checked in these newsgroups. Does anyone have any
suggestions? Its driving me up the wall!

Dear Stew,

NIS is a bane. It almost never uninstalls correctly or
completely. Should have read this newsgroup before
installing it. In the future, use the Norton Anti-Virus.

Can you go back to a RESTORE point in WinXP before you
installed NIS? If so, do it. This is the simplest way
to rid yourself of remnants of NIS. All should be well
after you do this. Your desktop should connect easily to
the MN-700.

Good Luck!

Hi,

To make the MN 700 work on XP, you will need to remove
the XP firewall.

Click Start- Contro Panel- Network connections- Right
Click Loacl Area Connection- properties
Click on the advanced tab
Uncheck internet connection firewall

This should allow you to continue the setup. In case you
are unable to continue setup, exit setup and perfor a
manual installation.

Get back to me if the above step doesnot work and i will
provide you with the steps for manual installation
