The manual is wrong. Read the following link for more information about
configuring the MN-500 as an access point & still being able to access
the BSMT.

Here is a quote from her page "Important: If you follow the procedures
I've listed below instead of the procedures documented in the MN-500
User Guide, you will not lose the ability to administer the MN-500. This
will give you the ability to change the SSID, channel, and encryption
key if needed without performing a factory reset of the base station and
starting from scratch."
