mn-510 wireless adapter won't function after rebooting

I assume that everyone using the MN-510 with windows XP has this problem as
well. After a reboot (not a manual shutting down and then booting up, but a
reboot) your networked computer will no longer be connected to the network-
it will not communicate with the base station. You then have to disconnect
the wireless adapter from the computer and then reconnect it for it to begin
communicating again with the base station.

This has been true ever since initial installation (and reinstallation) and
after all updates and upgrades have been downloaded and applied.
