I've not been networking for long. Just have a small home
network for me and the wife using the MN-500 wireless
base station. Everything worked fine for months, but
recently, every morning when I start up the network, the
base station has lost it's settings and I have to use
the "admin" password (my own password no longer works at
these times) to get in and restore the settings I've
saved to a *.bin file. I've tried everything suggested by
Microsoft, resets and restores, and have lost count of
the number of times I've tried running setup again. Setup
always fails and suggests I reset the base station and
modem, and disable my virus scanner. I've done these
things numerous times without any success. I have to go
away for a few days and I just know the wife will have
problems restoring the network when I've gone. Can anyone
help please?

try a manual setup after a complete reset. to reset, onloy an unfolded
paperclip iun the reset hole for around 7 seconds until the lights
flash. then open a web browser and go to 192.168.2.1 and use the
default password of admin.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but I'm afraid it
didn't work When I get to the end of setting up I get
the message "The Wizard cannot configure your base
station" followed by the message "There was a problem
configuring your base station" This morning I had restore
my setting from the *.bin file again. Any other
suggestions please?

That message indicates you tried to use the wizard again as opposed to
a manual setup. Please reset it. Then, open internet explorer and type
in http://192.168.2.1 and do not use the wizard. Try a manual setup.
