I need to forward some ports within persistant port
forwarding but all the fields are presently full. Is there
a way to get more empty fields so that I can enter the
information or is there really a finite number of ports
that can be forwarded?

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried to use ranges of ports to compact the
tables? Also have you tried to use app-triggered port
forwarding.

Otherwise, if so many ports need to be open for a
computer, you may consider enabling a DMZ (all ports open
for that computer) -- but with the additional security
risk (you may want then to install a software firewall on
that computer)

Which firmware are you running.

I'm betting it is 1.08.003 or earlier.

If you need more entries for Persistent Port Forwarding (the port
numbers range from 1-65535) then download & install the 1.09.* or higher
firmware version.

Also and entries from msmsgs.exe can be deleted as they are created by
Windows Messenger. MSN messenger doesn't do this any more if you want
to stop that from happening.

Windows Messenger versions 5 or higher won't do this either.

The newest version of Windows messenger I could find is 4.7 & that's
only for Windows XP. Windows messenger can be found at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger while MSN messenger is at
http://messenger.msn.com/

I stopped using it because it would disconnect me from the messenger
service at random times. Now I'm running MSN Messenger 6.1.

So I think you mean version 5 & higher of MSN messenger as Microsoft
stopped developing Windows messenger & continued with MSN messenger.

I did a bit more searching after my last post then I did find a copy of
Windows messenger 5.0 for Windows XP at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Make sure you enter that into one line.

Microsoft continues to develop the Windows and MSN versions. They are two
entirely different development teams. Windows Messenger had Ink for Tablet
PCs before MSN Messenger. MSN Messenger gives you a stream of ads, while
Windows Messenger doesn't. Here's an article by writer and author Joli
Ballew which gives the differences:
