(MN-500) ISP firewall blocks Installation?

I know my ISP has a firewall because I ordered it.

I can only get the MS MN-500 router installation disk to get to the
programming the base. Then it cancels.

I have uninstalled any firewall or antivirus programs. If I connect
with a proxy to my IP it tries to do the programming for about 15
seconds then cancels. Without the proxy it cancels in about 2 seconds.
This is with XP.

There must be some way to get it through that 'firewall' stage.

Ah, I figured this one out. I just used the MS software until it wont
program the base.

at that point, Opened up my Internet Connections TCP properties &
changed the IP settings to 'automatically obtain an IP address' then
went to the msbs address of http://192.168.2.1 with netscape & set the
properties (ip address, dns) there of my ISP. Didn't have to use a
proxy after all & kept my ISP firewall active.

I learned this from using a netgear router.

But I still think that the MS BS should have a manual IP & DNS
address.
