Hello.

We have a MN-500 on our network. The problem is whenever
there is a problem internet servce provider (ISP)
equipment, the entire data in MN-500 gets erased.
Similarly, if either we power down the basestation or
there is a power cut (from utility provider), the
settings simply vanish from the base station. we do have
a spike buster and surge protector so that is not the
issue.

It looks as though there is no flash inside MN-500 only
some RAM Did anyone have the same problem? I
appreciate if anyone can help...

I have the latest firmware on this product, that is not
an issue either.

Sounds like a defective MN-500. The settings should
remain when powerdown. Is the unit still under warranty?

Yes, I guess. Unfortunately, we bought this in US and we
are now in India. I am not sure if there is any local
support.

I am so irritated with this unit; anything under the Sun
can cause the settings to evaporate. Very exasperating.

Is there any diagnostic tool to figure out why this is
happening? Or, is there any MS customer service email ID
where we can seek some remedy?

Thanks.

Microsoft won't support you as the broadband networking hardware is for
sale only in the USA & Canada. Therefore it is only supported in those
two countries.

Check your receipt. The store you bought it from may
accept a return by mail.

Another suggestion: backup the settings from the MN-500,
so it becomes easier to restore them later (under
Management/Backup & Restore). This is far from perfect,
but will be better than reconfiguring the whole station.

Thanks. This is what I do now, but still quite painful -
as posted elsewhere, the base station management tool is
a tricky one to get hold of, more so if the settings are
erased. I am managing, but it is a pain.

I am trying to see if the store can help us; not sure of
that since the 90 day period is over.

I have the exact same problem and can not find any solution. It seems new firmware is needed. I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it. My guess is when the log gets excessively long it resets itself.

What type of ISP problem causes reset?
