MN-500 Disabling Security Features

I am trying to disable my security features and I have
turned off everything possible through the Management tool
(Firewall, Wireless Security, etc.). I even tried
establishing a Virtual DMZ which should allow any machine
to access my machine with the understand that I am wide
open to the world. Well, when I did that, I checked my log
files and its still blocking access to my machine. I am
trying to open a port to allow users to connect to my
machine for internet gaming (Links2001), but it continues
to block their attempts.

I don't have any other problems with the product (with
respect given to its rigid configurability) and everything
works fine, except for the security. I realize its doing
its job, but it shouldn't be blocking anything if I set up
a Virtual DMZ and opened ports for Links2001.

Can ANYONE help me with this?

Thanks.

You don't need to do all that, Jason. I would immediately put the firewall
back up, and then consult this Knowledge Base article:

Thanks Chris. Maybe I need to explain a little more just
in case:
1. I am wireless using the MN-500 and MS Wireless card
2. I am VPNing into another network (the connection is not
a problem, just can't ping anything nor can I see
anything). When I am plugged directly into my modem with
cable, I can see/ping everything
3. My network IP settings are 192.168.2.1 (2.95 for my
machine); the VPN network is on a 192.168.1.1 network; I
can receive an IP from that network no problem regardless
of wireless or not
4. I open Links 2001, Online, Direct Connection and when I
enter in the VPN IP address of the host, it finds the game
5. When I attempt to connect to the game, the "Connection
Fails".

Now, I tried hosting the games, thinking that would solve
the problem. I did the following:
1. Turned off my Firewall
2. Created a Virtual DMZ
3. Gave the others my External (ISP Provided) IP
4. They attempted to connect
5. I checked my Base Station Log File and they were being
blocked. (I do not have ZoneAlarm or anything on my
machine.)

So, I consulted the article you sent me. I have DirectX 9
installed on my machine, but am assuming the ports are the
same. I noticed that my MN-500 defaulted to a dsplaysvr
port (47624), which I have no idea what that is, but its
the same as the DirectX 7 Initial TCP connection. For
DirectX 8, it references 6073. I tried establishing Port
Forwarding using both Application and Persistent, but
neither worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you are
allowed/able, you can contact me directly at
(E-Mail Removed) on MSN Msger.

Perhaps someone wiser on port forwarding (Jason Tsang, where are you?) will
step in, but it seems to me you need to do the port forwarding to the actual
machine IP on which your game resides.

OK...well in the meantime, let me ask this:

1. Do I need to establish a Virtual DMZ?
2. Would I be using Application-Triggered or Persistent
Port Forwarding?
3. The IP on which the game resides, are you referencing
on my machine, or on the machine on the VPN network?

Thanks Chris. I confident I can get this going, but I have
a few other similar items that are going to operate the
same way and if I can't get it going, then I'm wondering
if another router would be the answer.

Cheers,
House
