Can this base station be used hardwired instead of wireless?

OK, I am now back from vacation and hooked up my notebook to my Base Station
via CAT 6.

Now it seems that I have to reboot often to keep a connection to teh
internet even though down in teh systray it says the LAN is connected.

What can I do?
