If anyone else experiences this problem, here is the
correct answer from Microsoft. I used it and it worked:
"This error normally occurs if the services Universal
Plug and Play Host and SSDP Discovery Service are not
started on your computer. To resolve the issue we need to
follow the steps given below:
1. Click Start-> Run, type: services.msc.
2. Right click the service name SSDP Discovery Service
and click properties.
3. Choose Startup type to manual and click Start and Ok.
4. Right the service name Universal Plug and Play Host
and click properties.
5. Choose Startup type to manual and click Start and Ok.
If the issue persists try to setup the MN-100 base
station settings manually using the URL given below:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;810964
After performing the steps above try to install the
software and you should be able to install the Base
station successfully.
