Hi

I have a USRobotics 8022 Wireless Router connected via Ethernet to a Windows
XP PC and via Wireless to a Windows XP Laptop. The router can see both
units and each can work though the router to access the internet BUT they
can't see each other. All previous attempts to network them have failed !
What am I not doing right to network them into a simple network !

Many thanks

Colin Jones

Several people have asked similar questions in recent months, and there are
a variety of different suggested solutions. It might be worth your while to
visit the Google archive for alt.internet.wireless and browse the last 3 or
4 month's worth of posts. The archive is at:

http://groups.google.com/groups

If you don't find what you need, repost here with more specifics. For
example, define what you mean by "can't see each other". Does this mean they
can't ping each other from a windows cmd shell? Does it mean they don't show
up in each other's network neighborhoods?

You might also want to look at:

which has a link to a message forum with very similar threads.

Install NetBEUI protocol... it's on the XP CD. Otherwise check that NetBIOS
over TCP/IP is enabled. Be sure the workgroup name is consistent and that
the user account(s) are correctly setup on both comps.

Brilliant ! Solved problems completely. I had to reconfigure Norton
Internet, but that's all.

Thanks

Colin
