Mixed 98SE/XP Network Printer Problem

I've recently networked my old Deskpro running W98SE and a new Presario
running XP Home.

File & Printer Sharing has been enabled on both machines, I've created
matching user accounts on both and I can access the sharable drives from
either machine as expected.

However, my printer (an Epson 1200 Photo) is attached to a USB port on the
XP machine and is also sharable but I can't connect to it from the 98
machine (can't see it when trying to add a network printer).

I'm sure there must be a simple explanation for this but can anyone tell me
what it might be?
