I am attempting to set-up a VPN. I followed the
directions provided by Microsoft for this until I reach
the point where I am to select "Microsoft VPN adapter"
which is not an option in the drop down. Under
Add//remove programs it is listed but is taking up no
memory... does that mean it does not exist? Can I
download from Microsoft? Any help is greatly
appreciated! Debbie

Hi Debbie,

If you go into control panel, Add-Remove Programs, and
click on the Windows Setup tab, you should see a list of
items. In the list should be an entry
called "communications". DBL-click that and another
window should pop up. If you scroll to the bottom of
those entries, make sure "Virtual Private Networking" is
checked. If not, you will need to check (may need
Windows CD too.) If it is checked, uncheck and okay your
way out and reboot, then go back in and check. When you
check this and reboot, "Microsoft VPN Adapter" should
show in the list of devices when making a dial-up
connection. Let me know if you have any problems.

Eric

In Win Me you add VPN as follows. Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs |
Windows Setup, select Communications, click Details and you will find VPN at
the bottom of the list. Check, OK and Apply.
