Hi,

This a random thing and happens to random workstations the domain.

When you log onto the computer and domain the desktop is blank only thing
you see is the wallpaper.

These are xp pro. workstations the domain controller in 2003 r2 sp2

There is no roaming profiles setup for any of the users.

have login scrpits to map drives for users.

If you log off then log back on the desktop comes back to normal.

Any suggestion to look for? DNS problem? login script problem?

Once you get a proper desktop the acess to the network resources is fine not
slow, no glitches.

Thanks for the help

TJH

You're sure there's not group policies on folder redirection?
Just to be sure, take a look at this key path in regedit (on the problem
workstations or servers) and make sure none of the paths are pointed to a
network share somewhere.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

Other than that, nothing else has come to mind of what this problem could
be.

HTH,
Jim

I also experiencing the same problem randomly with some of my workstations
(XP Pro on Windows 2003 domain). I had check the registry but all keys are
pointing to local folders (%userprofile%)

Any idea what cause this?
