I've got one computer running '98SE, and recently got new
one running Windows XP. I decided to network them, and
used XP's "wizard" to do the set-up. It worked - at least
as far as being able to transfer files between the two
computers, but now the old computer ('98SE) stalls at a
couple error messages during boot-up. First a DOS message
tells me "vnetware.386" can't be found. Next one tells me
"vipx.386" can't be found. Eventually the computer boots
up, and seems to run fine. I've tried removing the
ethernet card and going through the reload sequence when
"new hardware" is found - that doesn't replace the missing
files. I've reloaded '98SE a couple times, with no change.
I've even run the XP wizard again to see if it would do
something, but to no avail. So... How do I replace the
files? Or, if they are not necessary, how do I get the
computer to stop looking for them?
