Wishing to switch services, from AOL to Verizon DSL. Verizon will provide me
the combo router/modem. Wanting to link three computers. Desktop uses XP,
Laptop uses XP, 2nd Desktop uses 98. Any advice? Is the computer on 98
upgraded enough?

Its not really needed, but I would suggest your XP machines should be
upgraded to SP2 before you try to install your network. Your 98 machine is
fine but you will have some file sharing issues when trying to access your
XP machines dealing with the naming scheme of XP.

Then you can get a standalone wireless access point and plug it into one of
the LAN ports on the router and then you'll have a wired and wireless setup
for your machines. Of course you'll need one wireless card or more. And Win
98 should be able to handle a wireless NIC with no problems.

There is an example of one and you can get the brand name and model that
fits your needs.

You need Win98 Second Edition for a wireless adapter to work.
Consider using USB adapters on cables, easier to position for best signal.
