I used to hold Nildram in the highest esteem. They saved me from Pipex
and 56k speeds with no customer service. Nildram's CS was great,
friendly and with large quantities of clue. Then Pipex followed me like
a net stalker. They bought Nildram to pursue their goal of making me
miserable, after all I had got one over on them by claiming back the
money they had stolen from my credit card after they had charged me for
the privilege of closing my account with them. Their influence was
extremely subtle at first, like having Pipex stamped of the envelope of
my Nildram bill. And then the increased numbers of poor disgruntleds in
here and on ADSL Guide. I then changed job and my new job required me to
have a static IP. I phoned up and said I would take my 3 years of
business away if they didn't give me one for free. "Bye!" said the CS
guy that I had to wait 10 mins to talk to. I got through to the sales
guy immediately and demanded my MAC code and they then finally buckled.
They did start charging me for it again after a regrade but after a 12
minute wait to CS they knocked it off again. I felt all cosy knowing I
had superior service to all the muppets flocking to Tiscali and Wanadoo.
I would go round and set up their connections for them and silently
chuckle inside as they were blissfully unaware of how crap their speeds
were in comparison. I had underestimated the devious methods that Pipex
were undertaking to get back at me. My torrents were slowing down. Still
ok ish but definitely slower than they used to be. "I can quite
categorically state that Nildram have not, are not, and have no plans
to ever throttle ports" said the CS guy I waited 15 mins to talk to.
Fair do's I thought. Must be the take up of BB maxxing out the pipes.
But wait, at 1am the gates started to open sporadically. A check on ADSL
guide revealed many others with suspicions. Finally they admitted that
they were shaping in a Plusnet stylee. I use a VOIP phone for work. The
quality went shite. Time to go, Pipex had prevailed like an evil entity
taking over a host until finally there is no part of the original host
left. I certainly didn't recognise the Nildram that used to make me feel
all warm and fluffy.

I phoned CS, 20 mins later they answered. I want a MAC please. "I'll put
you through to sales." Sales at F2S answered! Eventually Nildram sales
gave me my MAC. I got my date of 4 Jun and all switched as planned.
Downtime about 30s to change username in router. IP was reset to 2Mb
though. 3 days later I just downloaded a torrent at 800Kb/s without
encryption or anything. My VOIP is crystal clear and there is sweetness
and happiness in my life. Beware the evil Pipex, they're like one of
those alien parasite things off of Star Trek. My new provider? Mind your
own business!!

It's always nice to hear a happy-ever-after story, but it's only half a
story without the current ISP named.

No problem. I'm in a similar situation, thinking about thinking about
eventually leaving Nildram.
Wondered if you went for a Home or Office package (just assuming that you
did go with an Entanet reseller like ADSL24)?

In that hypothetical situation I would probably plump for an office
package costing in the region of 29 squid a month!

And do you actually notice the extra upload speed that the Office package
gives you?

A VOIP call made when downloading at max chat is still xtal clear and
unbroken but i got it because website uploads will be twice as quick!
Pings are circa 25ms too. This is quite important for me but it has made
me very popular with No1 son who likes his games.
