My current ISP is Eclipse but im looking to migrate to BT but when i
try to order online it says my line is not capable of having BB as it
is too far from the exchange! My line is far but i currently get a 1mb
connection on "up to 8mb", and ive had broadband for about 4 years now.

Also does anyone know if BT cap usenet speeds? I pay for a usenet
provider but im only getting 30kbps with eclipse since they started
capping so was thinking of going with BT. I dont download a huge
amount but i would like to get full speed any time of the day....

Thanks

When BT first started using Giganews it did seem to be capped
according to most users. I've just done a quick test and downloaded
14.7MB in 121 secs which is approx 124KB/s. I'm not sure how fast it
is at other times of day.

At a guess, you don't read much of this group - even going back as far
as a couple of days ago someone posed the question of who the worst ISP
was. AFAIK there was only one reply, but that said it all. Guess who.

The only way you migrate with BT is out not in.

Giganews (European server) currently pumps as fast as my BT connection will
support (400-500KB/s on a 6Mb ADSL Max line). It hovers around 200-300KB/s
during 6pm to 11pm, but I am assuming that is just normal 'internet busy' as
it goes up and down from this value during this period.

Don't do it - you've already had a taster of how crap BT are.
