I am having so many problems getting any good speed from
my new Microsoft Wireless G pci card. It connects to my
linksys wireless g router and disconnects about every 5
minutes. I have a linksys wireless g card in my laptop and
that card runs great. I made the mistake of calling
Microsofts Tech support and was routed to some Indian
women who knew nothing. Anybody have any clues I already
unchecked the iee support tab and still nothing. Why is
this product so bad?

Try shutting down your LAN (router and computers) for a couple minutes, and
then restart - router first, then the connected machine, followed by the
wireless machine.

Hello Chris

First I would like to thank you for replying to my post.
I have not yet tried your solution yet but I will. I
guess I would like a little more detail on what you
believe the problem is. Have you seen this before in the
past and are offering me the solution you used to fix
this problem when you have seen it? Also if this works
does that mean I have to always shut and restart the
router when I reboot the machine with the ms card in it.
I guess I am just looking for some more details on the
issue I am having. It seems to be a compatibilty issue
between a linksys router and my new ms wireless pci card.
Am I correct?

Thanks,
dev

No compatibility issues that I'm aware of, just common sense when you make
some changes to bring up the system in order so everything talks with
everything else. There really is no reason, once they've all talked with
each other to be restarting the base station just because you add another
computer to the LAN.

The first line of checking for LAN errors is to reset the DSL or cable
modem. Sometimes the handshake with the ISP is not working but we think our
LAN has gone belly-up. I've said before, that we're not the only ones
making software changes to the hardware. Your Internet supplier also makes
changes to their equipment via software updates, and we can lose the
connection because the modem and their equipment aren't talking any more. A
restart - i.e., unplugging the modem for a minute or two - most times will
properly restore the connection.
