The question was about the MN-740 adapter, unless I misunderstood the
original post. There are basically two ways: (1) Open the base station
management tool, and on the Home page all the devices are listed; or (2)
Open your Xbox settings screen and look there.

There is no "default" IP for the MN-740.

The question was if the adapter (MN-740) had a default IP address. I
understand that the Router will give an IP out to the adapter, IF DHCP is
enabled. But what if you do not use DHCP? How will the adapter get an IP
address.

By the way I do know the answer to this already but I just want to confirm
it with someone else.

That's just it, on my network I only use static IP's, and I assign them
manually.

Problem is, that you can't manually assign an IP to the MN-740. Without DHCP
you end up with a APIPA.

I wanted to see if I could get an answer without posting this.

Funny thing is that the 192.168.x.x address works on the network anyway.

Yes, all static IP's manually configured, on every Ethernet and wireless
device in the network.

So I ask again,
How do you get a valid IP address on the MN-740 without using DHCP? There is
no documentation anywhere saying you MUST use DHCP.
