Microsoft has issued a "critical" warning over a newly-discovered flaw
in Windows.

Yawn. This news?

Does the BBC recruit ex-daily mail journos or something?

Well, it does seem odd that the BBC reports every serious security issue
in MSIE. However, given the number of users who use MSIE[0], if a BBC
news article means that more of them are aware that they should upgrade
immediately (or at least when a patch is available), it's better for the
Internet as a whole, since fewer system to compromise means fewer
systems available for criminal enterprises.

- river.

[0] I believe Firefox now has a fairly respectable market share, but I
have a feeling Firefox users are more likely to update when the browser
tells them to, instead of postponing it or putting off updates entirely.

Latest figures released for 2010 show that Firefox now has a bigger market
share in Europe than IE. It's said that IE lost some of it's market share
to Google's Chrome.

MS haven't released an update yet.

If you want a temporary fix you can get one from

Tried it. Said it could not open the file and suggested using the web
service to find the correct program.
