Questions:

I will use MS windwso 2003 as VPN using ONLY PPTP....

I know that win2k and winXp can act as PPTP vpn client withuot problem.

Does i need it for 9x client?

Does the it improve PPTP protocol implementation for 9x client?

Does the it improve PPTP protocol Security for 9x client?

Any hint?

Thank you

Dan

W98 includes a VPN client for PPTP. Check that you have the latest
version of DUN (1.4) for W98. I cannot think of any reason to install the
L2TP client if you are using PPTP.

Actually, L2TP+IPsec provides one feature not available in PPTP -- machine
authentication. L2TP authenticates the user, just like PPTP does. Then IPsec
authenticates the computer; there is no equivalent in PPTP. Computer authentication
helps you know that remote access clients are machines that you trust because
you can control the distribution of digital certificates only to machines
that you want to allow.

Also, PPTP's encryption ciphers use the password as a seed, so the strength
of your tunnel is related somewhat to the strength of your password. L2TP+IPsec
doesn't have this shortcoming.
