Has any one seen the following when using Microsoft iSNS server?
Configuration :
Windows 2003 running Microsoft iSNS server (using 3.0 at the moment but
tried with older version)
Connecting to Linux iscsi target (using IET version 0.4.15 but tried with
0.4.13)
Symptoms :
If I create a new target with a name length of 4,8 or 12 characters then
most of the existing targets disappear and the new target is seen as unknown.
e.g. Target name
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:123 OK
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:1234 Unknown
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:1234567 OK
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:12345678 Unknown
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:abc OK
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:abcd Unknown
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:abcdefg OK
iqn-07.2001.ARRAY:abcdefgh Unknown
As long as I do not use target names with lengths in multiples of 4
characters long then all works OK
If I connect same target device to Linux iSNS server 2.1 then there are no
problems. All name lengths work
As I have not seen this mentioned before I feel sure that the problem is not
with Microsoft iSNS, but possibly that I am not configuring correctly.
Any help would be very much appreciated
