A couple of things to check. First, do you have the correct cables? It is
common to have a cross over instead of a straight and vice versa. (a
straight cable has the same pattern of colors in the connector at both ends)
Second, go into the manual configuration (normally via a web interface) and
check for an item called MTU and set it to 576 (the lowest allowed value).
Also, be sure to clone your mac address since some ISPs won't allow you to
connect unless your mac is what was registered on the network.
