Microfilter quality

My cheap microfilter seems to be playing up: audible line noise,
phenomenal degradation of analogue modem connection speed, 'weaker' phone
ringing and now answerphone problems. Before I get myself a new one, do
these problems actually go away with a quality microfilter? Any
experiences with any of these:

Fujitsu FDX100-UK ADSL Microfilter
U.S.Robotics USR ADSL Microfilter
Dabsvalue ADSL MicroFilter / Spliter
D-Link UK ADSL Microfilter

all listed here <http://tinyurl.com/omm2 >

thanks

Have you a green wire that you can snip?

Yes, I'm using Fujitsu FDX100-UK. They work faultlessly for me.

You hit the nail on the head! It is a Tehkal job indeed, I snipped the
green wire and suddenly everything works great. No audible noise, the
ringing tone is back to normal and the answerphone works again. I haven't
tried the 56K modem yet, but I'm sure things will be a lot better.
Actually, I am surprised it was connecting at all at anything over 33.6K
considering the level of audible noise. Amazing they managed to get the
wiring wrong! Thanks everyone for the replies.

Um... Yeah. I'd have to agree. I have an original BT filter installed
as the master socket in the house. All the slave sockets are after the
filter, so they're automatically filtered.

I have to say the only problems I've ever had (Apart from an abortive
period with an ISP that went under) were from BT's own bad practices
with regard to BTO's port25 filters, and then a 4 day outage this
month when they deprovisioned me because they thought I was moving for
some reason.

None due to line quality or bad filters... It's good kit...

Oh... My info from the router (Speedtouch)

=>adsl info
Modemstate : up
Operation Mode : G.DMT Annex A [POTS Overlay Mode]
Channel Mode : fast
Number of resets : 1

Vendor Local Remote
Country : 0f 0f
Vendor : ALCB ALCB
VendorSpecific : 0000 0000
StandardRevisionNr : 01 01

Downstream Upstream
Margin [dB] : 31 31
Attenuation [dB] : 32 21
OutputPower [dBm] : 20 12

Available Bandwidth Cells/s Kbit/s
Downstream : 1358 576
Upstream : 679 288

Actually downsteeam attenuation seems higher today... It WAS 22dB the
other night when I looked.
