hello

I've built an integrated firmware for Linksys Wrt54g with the
following features :

- unik OLSR 0.44 : OLSR allow mesh networking
- micro-asp : a mini httpd server for administration and configuration
- DHCP on lan
- automatic traffic forwarding between all connected AP sharing same
SSID, channel and wep keys
- crontab for periodical tasks
- automatic installation with predifined parameters for new AP
that have never been modified having linksys defaults
- opensource firmware based on OpenWrt b4 with custom features
also available as source or binary firmware.

Y'll find some documentation in french here :

http://reseaucitoyen.be/index.php?OpenWrt
http://reseaucitoyen.be/index.php?OpenWrtMQ

and standard documentation for OpenWrt :

http://openwrt.ksilebo.net/

feedback would be appreciated.

Marc.

Hello Marc,

Do you have a link on reseaucitoyen.be that shows some performance data
? latency ? jitter ?

I want to be able to respond to Francis da Costas (MeshDynamics) post on
http://mark.cabiling.free.fr/mobilemesh/

I made some tests along time ago. Those tests was done in my house.
I have made a little mesh network working and linked together.
Two of the AP have no antenna to reduce spread range and build
multiples hops.

http://reseaucitoyen.be/index.php?OpenWrtMesureDeDebits

I was able make 300kB/s and ping results show about 3-4 ms
for each hops.

This is now a real test with 3 hops :

traceroute to 169.254.0.57 (169.254.0.57), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
1 10.0.0.66 (10.0.0.66) 1.052 ms 0.589 ms 0.544 ms
2 wl51 (169.254.0.51) 2.669 ms 2.878 ms 2.321 ms
3 wl63 (169.254.0.63) 10.807 ms 4.180 ms 4.159 ms
4 wl57 (169.254.0.57) 12.618 ms 7.721 ms 7.037 ms

wl51-wl63 is about 850m omni directional antenna
wl63-wl57 is about 50m.

for stability, I've limited to 2Ms/s my mesh network.

I had a look at your page and the perfs seem good. However have u tried
adding devices to the mesh ? For example 3 or 4 laptops at the same time ?

no, but there is no problems at all.

i'm currently building a meshed network with this technology ;
the main goal for this network is to share internet connection
or to pull ADSL away from where it is present.

I think we will not have probleme for small network under 20 units.
But I can figure for larger networks.
