ME pcmcia

This is an ME laptop. The Zircom pcmcia nic was not
working. I installed a 3COM pcmcia nic. I do an ipconfig
and get 0.0.0.0. I put a static ip on the card and do an
ipconfig in the command box and get a 0.0.0.0. The light
on the card is lit. I plugged it into a cable modem with
no luck. I plugged it into a router with no luck. I tried
the static with the router. I changed cables. I changed
routers. Any ideas?
