1. Could anyone please provide explicit routing ports that I must enable in
my MCE Desktop for my MCX to function? I have the Remote Desktop feature
enabled and am trying to sort out the differences between the TCP & UDP ports
configured for the "Media Center Extender Services" and "Remote Media
Experiences."
2. I've also reset the MCX to start all over but I find that it will
create multiple profiles, i.e., MCX1, MCX2(2), MCX3. I deleted the oldest
profiles. Is this good?
3. When I finally do get an MCX menu screen and select My Movies, My
Pictures, I get an Active X error advisory whenever I try to call up those
folders. How do I sort THIS out?
4. Does the MCX antenna broadcast its 802.11a or 802.11g frequency, or
both? I have a Linksys WMP55AG NIC in my MCE that I'm trying to configure
for both frequencies; I would like to use the 80211.a frequency directly
between my MCE & MCX and free up the 802.11g wireless bandwidth on my WRT54G
router used for internet access and file sharing.
An ad hoc configuration was suggested but I saw in the MCX book that it
doesn't give good ad hoc and am limited to infrastructure mode.
5. I also try configuring the WMP55AG per the manual (loading only the
driver and then using Wireless Zero Configuration tool but that too looks
nothing like the examples in the manual.
I've tried all the different rollups and updates with many "start all over
from scratch" configurations and now my head hurts. Please help!
