Hi,

I'm currently on 2mb adsl with F2S. The BT line checker says my
exchange was enabled for Max ADSL a couple of days ago and I can get
faster speeds through this. I've emailed F2S about this but they tell
me I cannot get the faster speed as F2S does not have an LLU and I
won't be able to get faster speeds until next spring.

I don't understand a word of this. Does F2S not have a piece of
hardware in my exchange that allows me to get the faster speed? Do I
have to move to BT?

Thanks

The Max products are in trial at present, and not all ISPs signed up
to the trial. We're one of the ones that has done so.

There are very strict guidelines for participation in the trial, and
we have issued a 30 page document for interested customers.

It's a bit like a beta software release. You can take part, but there
are no guarantees, you're a guinea pig, and you're expected to report
on your experiences.

MaxDSL is a trial by invitation. Maybe F2S aren't in the trial, or
maybe you aren't invited.

F2S and you are confused because they are also doing fast speeds via
Easynet LLU kit, which isn't in your exchange. So they were basically
saying "wait until MaxDSL launches in the spring".

Thanks, you explained it a lot better than F2S did

Should mention that F2S replied to my support email within minutes of
emailing them at 10.30pm Sunday night though, was very impressed with
that.

Thanks again.

AFAIK Freedom2Surf *are* in the trial. It sounds like they misread
the OP's email and thought he was asking about LLU. I think if he
talks to their CS and explains he is talking about the HomeMax trial
not LLU then they may be able to get him added though there's no
guarantees. He should also understand that as a trial it may not
necessarily work that well.
